The Canadian Screen Awards nominates Iranian feature ‘Ava’ for 8 awards.

The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television has nominated the Iranian feature film ‘Ava’ for eight awards.

‘Ava’, the first feature film by Sadaf Foroughi, received the nominations in eight categories. It is the first time an Iranian film is nominated at the Canadian event.

The movie has been nominated for the best Motion picture award, the best editing, the best production design, and the best cinematography.

Foroughi has received two nominations for the best original screenplay and the best director. Mahour Jabbari has been nominated for the best actress award, while Bahar Nouhian got a nom for the best supporting actress award.

A joint product of Iran, Canada and Qatar, the film tells the story of a 17-year-old girl who is influenced by the life of her family and her friends. So she decides to make some changes in their lives.

‘Ava’ has already gone on screen in Canada at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The Iranian movie received FIPRESCI Discovery Prize and Honorable Mention for the Best First Film from the Toronto event.

The Canadian Screen Awards is the most outstanding cinematic event in Canada, grabbing the same reputation as the Academy Awards in the US, and BAFTA in the UK.
